Hi there. My name is Darren, and I'm a qualified funeral celebrant. I help families create Celebration of Life services that truly reflect the memories and personality of their loved ones. I'll be at your side to guide you through the entire experience, from creating a meaningful and personalised funeral ceremony script to delivering the ceremony on the day of the funeral itself. Together we will create a special service to honour the life and legacy of the person you have lost.

Losing someone special to you is always hard. And arranging a funeral at this difficult time can often feel overwhelming.

That’s where I can help.

I am a fully qualified civil funeral celebrant and a member of the Institute of Civil Funerals, and can help guide you through the process of arranging and delivering a personalised funeral that truly captures the spirit and beliefs of the person who has died.

Unlike funerals held in a church, a Celebration of Life ceremony focuses on the person rather than a particular faith or religious ideology. That’s not to say you can’t include prayers or hymns in your service. That’s entirely up to you! And that’s why civil funerals are so special, because you get to decide how they are created and conducted.

Civil Funerals

A funeral ceremony is the last thing we can do for someone we love. Which is why it's so important it's arranged exactly the way you want it.

I will meet with you at a place of your choosing to talk about the life of your loved one and to gather all the details I need to create an engaging tribute and plan a ceremony that commemorates their life, loves and legacy.

I will explain all the many options available to you, as well as suggest poems, music, readings and other elements that can make the funeral unique and memorable.

Eulogy Writing

You may want to conduct the funeral ceremony yourself, but might need some help writing an engaging eulogy. As a former journalist and award-winning author, I have spent my career working with words. After meeting with you to learn more about the deceased, I will craft a captivating, moving and memorable eulogy that will make the funeral even more special.

Funeral Pre-planning

For many reasons some people may wish to plan their own funeral while they are still alive. I can help with this. I can visit you in your own home to discuss your wishes, before creating an entire funeral ceremony script, including specific poems, music and other elements you want to involve when telling the story of your life.

Should the time come I can also deliver the ceremony if you so choose, or you can hand the script to the person who will conduct the service.

Memorial Ceremonies

You might want to commemorate your loved one some time after the burial or cremation has taken place. I can help design a bespoke memorial service in a place that means a lot to you and your loved one.

Scattering of Ashes

An ash scattering ceremony can be a beautiful way to say goodbye to a loved one in a favourite location. The ceremony can include music, readings, a eulogy and poignant acts of remembrance.
